Nissan has come up a simple, cheap anti-theft system for its passenger cars that is currently under test and should soon be on the market in Japan.
The driver's seat adjustment unit is modified so that the seat can be locked so far forward that it is hard up against the steering wheel, making the car impossible to drive.
The system operates at the touch of a button in those vehicles equipped with electrically powered seats but the same principle can be applied to manually controlled seats.
There are almost no extra components required to make the system work so costs are very low.
