BUCHAREST - Dacia Automobile Pitesti will launch in April the Dacia Solenza model that will be available in four versions, at a starting price of 5,100 euro, the company announces in a press release.
The model will be fitted with an E7J Renault engine with multipoint injection and a capacity of 1,390 cubic centimetres, which develops 75 HP.
The engine is connected to a JH3 gearbox, available on the new models Renault, Laguna II and Megane.
Dacia Solenza is 4 metres long, 2.48 metres wide and is one of the largest sedans available in the market. It has a volume of 370 litres available for luggage.
“Solenza presents, for the first time in the builder’s range of products, the attributes of the new brand identity Dacia. The new three-dimensions logo, of blue-coloured chrome, is valued in the center of the calender. This new emblem of the Dacia visual identity lays at the origin of the V-type calender,” the release writes. According to the source, the rear of the car suggests the dynamic of the “V” letter. The large hayon, providing easy access to luggage, is bordered by two optical blocks shaped as triangles, while the third lamp is positioned in the upper part of the rear window. The dashboard is made of materials that are easy to maintain with good resistance in time, while chairs are ergonomic.
The tapestry is available in two shades, Carbon and Muscad. The Dacia Solenza range features four versions of equipping, namely Confort, Rapsodie, Clima and Scala.
The basic outfit of the Scala range includes centralised locking system, electronic engine blocking device, fog lights and air conditioning system.
Dacia invested 40 M euro in the creation of the new model, of which 30 M euro was allotted to specific industrial investments for new parts. The company management appreciates that, starting 2003, the sales of the new model will represent more than 50% of the brand’s total sales. “At the same time, Dacia Solenza is intended to be a true launching ramp for exports. Until 2007, Dacia estimates it will sell 200,000 new Solenza models, of which almost 50,000 will be on foreign markets,” the release adds. According to statistics made by the Association of Producers and Importers of Road Vehicles (APIA), Dacia sold 40,880 automobiles in 2002. The company is the leader of the Romanian market with respect to the number of road vehicles (automobiles and commercial vehicles cummulated) it sold, with more than 52,000 units sold in 2002, accounting for 47% of the national market. From the viewpoint of the number of units exported in 2002, Dacia however ranks second after Daewoo, although it doubled the volume of its exports in 2002
